Jeff has substantial experience with Damon’s and the Hempfield volleyball teams as his son Sam played four years for both programs. Jeff has previously served as the parental representative on the club’s board of directors. Mike Vogel - Club Founder
Mike is one of the most successful coaches in Pennsylvania volleyball history. Since 1994, Mike’s Hempfield High School Girls and Boys Teams have won 8 state championships, 12 District Three championships and 16 Lancaster-Lebanon league titles. On the national stage, Mike has guided the Damon’s Select team to a 5th Place Finish in 2003 and a 3rd Place Finish in 2004 at the 18’s Open level. Mike has also coached 6 KRVA championship teams and many of his former players have gone on to successful college careers. In 2005, Mike was inducted into the Pennsylvania Volleyball Hall of Fame. He founded the Damon’s Volleyball Club in November of 1998 and still serves as the Hempfield High School Boys coach.
Randy Paules - Damon’s 17’s Coach
Randy graduated from Hempfield High School and Arizona State University. Randy was an all-state setter and guided the 2000 Damon’s Select team to a 5th place open finish as the national championships. After high school, Randy took his talents west and set for Arizona State’s nationally ranked club team. Currently, Randy serves as the JV boys coach at York Suburban and the JV girls coach at Hempfield. Randy has been actively coaching for the club since 2005.
Matt Shawaryn – Damon’s 16’s Coach
Matt graduated from Hempfield High School and was a member of the 1996 and 1997 state championship teams. Matt was recognized as an Honorable Mention All-State player during his senior year. Matt has served as an assistant junior varsity coach at Hempfield and this is his third season with the club.
Pat Shawaryn – Damon’s Select Coach
Pat graduated from Hempfield High School and Juniata College. Pat played for the 1997 state championship team and received multiple First Team All-League, District and State honors during his high school career. Pat was also a starting outside hitter on the 2000 Damon’s Select team that finished 5th in the country. Pat then played at Juniata College and was a member of Juniata’s 2004 Division III National Championship Team. Pat has been actively coaching for the Club since 2004. He has guided our 17’s team to back to back top ten finishes in the club division at the 2005 and 2006 National Championships. In 2008, he coached the Damon’s Select team to the 18’s KRVA Championship. Pat is currently the girls varsity head coach at Hempfield. His 2009 team won the Section 1, Lancaster-Lebanon and District III titles and advanced to the PIAA semifinal match.
Tim Shawaryn – Damon’s 16’s Asst. Coach
Tim graduated from Hempfield High School in 1994 and Juniata College in 1998. Tim played on the 1994 Hempfield boys team that won the Section 1, L.L. League, District III & State Championships. Tim continued his career at Juniata College and was a member of Juniata’s First Division III National Championship Team in 1998. He received All American honors twice and was named to the First Team EIVA Division I All-East Team in 1998. Tim is a member of Hempfield’s and Juniata College’s Athletic Halls of Fame. Tim has been actively coaching with the club since 1999 and has led our teams to several KRVA championships. In 2000, he coached the Damon’s Select team to a 5th place finish in the 18’s Open division at the National Championships. Tim also serves as the assistant coach for the Hempfield girls varsity volleyball team.
